In this innovative educational activity prepared by the Selwo Marina conservation team, you can feed a giant tortoise while learning about the dangers it faces in the wild, what we are doing to help this endangered species survive... and how you can do your bit to help conserve it!

In this interaction, guided by expert keepers and carried out in small groups, you will be closer than ever to the African spurred tortoise, the largest species on the entire continent. Did you know that the largest specimens can weigh up to 100 kilos?

Help the giant tortoise

The African spurred tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata) is in danger of extinction, with a declining population found almost exclusively in reserves and national parks. In this educational interactive activity, you can learn more about this species and discover how we work in the international conservation program coordinated by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

In addition, you will also help protect biodiversity and endangered species thanks to the Parques Reunidos Foundation, whose projects we support thanks to all the participants in this activity.

What do you need to know?

Our team will take professional photographs during the interaction, which you can view without obligation at the Photo Stand located at the park entrance.
This activity is ideal for the whole family and is open to participants aged 2 and up! All minors must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over) who reserves and pays for their place, unless they are at least 7 years old and 1.25 m tall or taller, in which case they may participate unaccompanied.
For your safety, participating in this educational interaction is not recommended during pregnancy.
