Hibiscus Syriacus is a flowering plant species. It is cultivated as an ornamental flower in many parts of the world and is commonly known as Pacífico, Syrian Rose, altea or ‘avispa’ (wasp). In Anglo-America it is sometimes called Rose of Sharon but is more commonly known as Hibiscus and is deciduous.
It can reach 2 to 4 metres in height. It is generally grown in places where the summers are very hot because of its attractive flowers. These can be of various colours, including white, pink, red, violet, etc. Each flower has a short life span (about one day), but as the plant produces many you can always enjoy more. Its flowering period is from spring to autumn.

DISTRIBUTION: It is a plant that is native to Asia.

INTERESTING FACTS: It is the national flower of South Korea, appearing on various national emblems. Korea is compared to this flower in the country’s national anthem.
