The Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog is a species ofpoison dart frog belonging to theAromobatidae and Dendrobatidae families . This particular species is mainly found from thecentral area of Ecuador all the way to Peru. They are considered a diurnal speciesand are mainly found in dense forest areas, streams and cultivated areas.

The Phantasmasl Poison Dart Frog is mainly characterised by its proportionally small eyes and ahead as wide as its body, as well as by its peculiar red colour with pale stripes.

The Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog lays its eggs in fallen leaves, with the males carrying the larvae to stagnant water, where they continue their development. It breeds during the rainy season, when the male is most territorial.
