What are you looking for?
Selwo Marina joins the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network, an internationally recognized program that gives visibility to people with hidden conditions or disabilities that are not immediately obvious. In this way, together with ten other Spanish parks, we reinforce the commitment of the Parques Reunidos group to guarantee an inclusive experience for all visitors, becoming the first company in Spain to implement this initiative and joining other centers of the company that were already part of the program in Europe.
Globally, one in six people live with a disability, of which up to 80% may not be visible. Without a visual cue, it can be difficult for others to identify, recognize or understand the barriers these people with an invisible disability face in their day. So, with the aim of encouraging inclusion, acceptance and understanding, the official sunflower simbol allows you to voluntarily share that you have a hidden disability, letting everyone know that you may need extra help, understanding or simply more time.
In the words of Paul White, CEO of the Hidden Disabilies Sunflower, involvement in this initiative “will help ensure that people with non-visible disabilities can fully enjoy their visit, in an understanding environment tailored to their needs.” In this sense, in order to provide a more inclusive and empathetic treatment, all the staff of the participating parks have been trained to recognize the sunflower logo and to be able to provide support to all people.
Upon arrival at Selwo Marina, visitors can request their official sunflower distintive at Visitor Services to discreetly let others know, through this cheerful and dynamic symbol, that they need help or understanding during their visit.
